Code of Conduct

Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and leaders of the Thermocline community pledge to make participation in our project and community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community.

Our Standards

Positive Behaviors

  • Being respectful -- Treating all community members with dignity and respect
  • Being inclusive -- Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • Being collaborative -- Working together constructively toward common goals
  • Being empathetic -- Showing understanding toward other community members
  • Being constructive -- Providing helpful feedback and gracefully accepting it
  • Being accountable -- Taking responsibility for our mistakes and learning from them
  • Focusing on the community -- Prioritizing what is best for the overall community

Unacceptable Behaviors

  • Harassment -- Any form of harassment, whether public or private
  • Discrimination -- Discriminatory jokes, language, or actions
  • Sexual content -- Sexualized language, imagery, or unwelcome advances
  • Trolling -- Deliberate intimidation, trolling, or inflammatory comments
  • Personal attacks -- Insults, derogatory comments, or personal attacks
  • Doxxing -- Publishing others' private information without permission
  • Disruption -- Sustained disruption of discussions or events
  • Other conduct -- Any conduct reasonably considered inappropriate in a professional setting

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, including:

  • GitHub repositories (issues, pull requests, discussions, wikis)
  • Community meetings and events (virtual and in-person)
  • One-on-one communications related to community work

This Code of Conduct also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces.

Enforcement

Reporting

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to:

All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly. All community leaders are obligated to respect the privacy and security of the reporter.

What to Include in a Report

  • Your contact information
  • Names (usernames, real names) of individuals involved
  • Description of the behavior and why you consider it a violation
  • When and where the incident occurred
  • Any additional context or supporting information

Confidentiality

All reports will be handled with discretion. Reporter identities will not be disclosed without explicit consent, except as required by law or to protect others from imminent harm.

Enforcement Guidelines

1. Correction

Community Impact: Minor violation such as unprofessional or unwelcome behavior.

Consequence: A private, written warning providing clarity around the violation. A public apology may be requested.

2. Warning

Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.

Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved for a specified period.

3. Temporary Ban

Community Impact: A serious violation, including sustained inappropriate behavior.

Consequence: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period.

4. Permanent Ban

Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment, or aggression toward classes of individuals.

Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.

Enforcement Process

  1. Receipt -- Report acknowledged within 24 hours
  2. Review -- Community leaders review and gather information
  3. Discussion -- Leaders determine appropriate response
  4. Action -- Action taken based on enforcement guidelines
  5. Communication -- Outcome communicated to relevant parties
  6. Documentation -- Incident documented for future reference

We aim to resolve all reports within 7 days.

Appeals

Anyone subject to enforcement action may appeal within 14 days by contacting support@strongly.ai. Appeals will be reviewed by community leaders not involved in the original decision. The appeals decision is final.

Creating a Welcoming Environment

Beyond avoiding negative behaviors, we encourage community members to:

  • Welcome newcomers and help them get oriented
  • Mentor others and share knowledge generously
  • Recognize and appreciate contributions of all kinds
  • Assume good faith in communications

This Code of Conduct is adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1. Community Impact Guidelines were inspired by Mozilla's code of conduct enforcement ladder.
